Year 6 enjoy a Festive Fun Run

Year 6 Festive Fun Run

Our Year 6 pupils thoroughly enjoyed taking part in today’s festive fun run. The playground was buzzing with excitement as the children, proudly wearing their bright Santa hats, ran the course with smiles and laughter throughout.

The Santa Dash was a joyful way to celebrate the season, keep active, and spread a little Christmas magic across the school.

Surviving the Storm in Year 6- Readers Theatre

The Waves Attack

Our whole class helped create the storm: stomping feet for thunder, rustling paper for wind, and whooshing sounds for the rising sea.

When the waves “hit,” Zoe and Munchkin had to fight for survival.

What We Learned

In Lime class, acting out the scene helped us understand: how desperation drives both Zoe and Munchkin, how climate change shapes their world, and how humans behave in extreme danger.

In Almond Class, one child compared the waves to monsters!

In Oak Class, Ali and Laura managed to go completely off-script and even used prompts for their performance - there was some lovely acting too!

Ayaan and Aziz's performance was short and sweet but they had memorised their lines and spoke fluently.

Zayd showed off his ability to change his voice to suit different characters.

Sophie and Jefflyn had a special sarcastic flair when our character -Zoe - asked her friend to stop singing!

Year 6 Got Wild With Nature!

Come rain or shine, our Year 6 pupils embraced their Wild Passport Day, a celebration of nature and outdoor learning.

The day began with a lively group game, Squirrel in a Tree. Clara from Lime class wasn’t too keen on being a squirrel—she found herself caught by the foxes more often than not, much to everyone’s amusement!

From there, the children set off on a nature trail adventure packed with challenges:

  • 🐾 Identifying animal prints

  • 🌍 Sorting animals into their correct habitats

  • ❄️ Completing a quiz about the seasons and how animals survive in different climates

  • 🍃 Hunting for leaves and matching them to their trees at the Tree ID station

  • 🐛 Digging for worms and peeping under logs for beetles during a minibeast hunt

Toby from Almond class said, “I liked finding the animal footprints—it felt like being a real explorer!”

Peace from Oak class added, “The minibeast hunt was my favourite because we discovered so many tiny creatures hiding under the soil.”

And if that wasn’t enough, the day finished with an exciting orienteering activity, where pupils used their skills to identify woodland birds.

It was a day full of discovery, teamwork, and a deeper connection to the natural world—an experience the children will remember long after the mud has washed off their boots!
