Elm Maths Party
What a great turnout for the party today! The children enjoyed challenging their parents and engaging in a variety of activities. Thanks for coming!
Palm's poetry
Over the past few weeks years 6 have been working on poetry with extended metaphors. Together we went to the old school building to get some inspiration. We can with ideas that the building was a dinosaur, a vagrant, a dragon. Using as many techniques as we could we had a go at writing some of our own poem. The finished pieces were fabulous!

How old is the earth?
How long is a roll of toilet paper?!
In science we quickly realised how old the Earth is compared to how long humans have been on the Earth using toilet roll.
The children all created a timeline and discovered that told us how many sheets of toilet roll had passed by before we reach human life on Earth. It was only at the end of the last sheet of toilet roll that we could add our existence.
We then moved on too look more at Charles Darwin and his theory of Natural Selection.
Converting measurements? No problem!
Coconut maths group enjoyed sorting a tarsia puzzle that had different measure conversions on
them! Some found it tough, however, we were resilient and we all completed our
tasia puzzles in the end. Those who had finished their own popped round and
became advisors to the rest.
