Teacher Takeover E for Excellence

Following the success of our teacher takeover day, we decided that it was imperative for the children to celebrate their hard work and achievements through a teacher takeover E for Excellence assembly. To begin with, we reflected on our favourite memories from the day. One favourite memory included the assembly led by our head teacher, Arhaan. Another fond memory included learning about adverbs and adjectives in year 3.
After, the children, who were employed on the day, stood in front of the assembly and received a huge round of applause for the incredible work they put in to the afternoon. As shown by the assistant head teachers' checklists, every child was engaged in their learning, teaching was to a high quality and the TAs were being used effectively. Extraordinary.
Our child teachers were also very impressed with the pupil's behaviour and work ethic on the day. They decided that it was very important for their classes to be rewarded so therefore wrote out some certificates, to be shared in the assembly.
Our child employees once again showed high levels of composure, confidence and professionalism when delivering the assembly. Perfect work everyone, I have high hopes for next year...

Y5 Random Acts of Kindness

Tomorrow (24th May) Year 5 will be carrying out their annual random act of kindness. This year, the children will be going out into the community collecting litter, impacting their environment in a positive way. This act of kindness complements Broadford's WE campaign of the year, WE Change which is all about effecting positive change within the community.

Year 5 Star Writers

This week in Year 5, our star writers are: Joshua Kaylor, Grace Gore and Mikkileigh Williamson.

All three children have made a phenomenal start on their NOT a fairytale stories...

Joshua has demonstrated his capabilities at building effective descriptions, though he has shown he is also able to add detail through a balance of speech. He has additionally achieved this through a range of showing not telling, tell:show 3s and by adding parenthesis.

Grace has also constructed a fabulous non-fairytale, ensuring she has drawn upon original ideas, embedded humour throughout and included high levels of description so that her audience can truly imagine each scene.

Similarly, Mikkileigh has put great effort into producing her story. She has worked exceptionally hard,  carefully considering the characteristics of her creature, the encounter with Ramona and how the princess will (hopefully) pass it!

Inspiring writing Year 5, I think we can tell Jeremy Strong to move over...
