Disgusting Description in Year 5!

In Literacy this week, the children have been building up to writing an adventure story about a young girl's quest to discover an ogre.

To help the children develop their descriptive writing skills, the Mythical Monster Museum lent some disgusting body parts to the school for the children to touch.

As the body parts were so delicate this had to be done inside a bag, which meant the children had no idea what it was they would be encountering!

'That's disgusting, it feels like old bones!' - Alfie

'It smelt like it hadn't washed in a million years!' - Shauna

Another fab week here in year 6. Some maths groups have been working on coordinates and others have been tackling some greater depth number problems. In literacy, we’ve been writing a diary entry from the perspective of a child who has just been evacuated.

Year 5 Awards

It has been another busy week in Year 5, with lots of wonderful learning taking place.

All of the children have been working hard but our Year 5 superstars this week are:

E for Excellence: Brooke and Maddison

Star Writer: Katlyn and Ellie

Division Detectives!

Ms Jennings Math's group were being super division detectives today!

The children worked hard to solve worded division problems, once they had solved the questions they had to find the clues to work out what the treasure was!

The children used their knowledge of multiplication and division to solve problems, they also used place value counters for the super tricky problems.

'I enjoyed being a division detective' - Peter

It made division more fun, it was much better!' - Charlie T

Creating fossils in Year 6! 28/4/21

In Year 6 we are studying Evolution and Inheritance in science.

"Doesn't a paleontologist study fossils?" - Sabeer

"How are fossils found? Do people dig the ground up to find them?" - Ruben

"Fossils are extremely old and delicate" - Lewis

The children were given some fossils to look at. They then made their own fossils using salt dough.

Here are some pictures of the fun we had:
