Stellar Circuits in Year 6!

Year 6 have been learning about electricity this half-term in science. This week, the children have been testing what materials are insulators or conductors of electricity.

"An insulator is any material which does not conduct electricity; it does not allow electricity to flow through it." - Divine, Almond

"A conductor is any material which conducts electricity, like metals, and also sea water!" - Katlyn, Oak

The children simulated this on an interactive circuit website, and also used the school equipment to test out some materials.

At the end of the lesson 100% of children learned about why wires have plastic on the outside: the plastic keeps us safe from being electrocuted since it does not conduct electricity.

WW2 Webinar in Year 5

 WW2 Webinar in Year 5

Yesterday, Year 5 were lucky enough to take part in a national webinar over Zoom all about World War 2. We met author Tom Palmer who has just published his book ' After the War' about Jewish children who were evacuated to the Lake District from other countries in Europe.

In addition to this, we met Mala Tribich who survived the holocaust. She told us how her happy life in Poland was turned upside down in 1939 when WW2 broke out and how lucky she was to have survived.
