Year 6 Leavers' Party

Year 6 are having a wonderful time at their leaving party. A reminder that all children need to be collected at 8pm by an adult. A massive thanks to the Friends of Broadford for organising the event.

Caroline Lawrence Visit

This afternoon Year 6 made the short walk down to the MyPlace Centre to accompany fellow Year 6s from Pyrgo and Mead schools in meeting author Caroline Lawrence. Caroline, who penned the popular Roman Mysteries stories, gave her top tips for writing stories including ideas for heroic characters and their sidekicks. She even had time for a quick photo with a few of our inspired writers! Look out for some of her mystery books in our school library!

Year 6 Praise

We were delighted today to receive a message from Elaine Keeley, a road safety officer, who our year 6 children had the pleasure of meeting last week at the Junior Citizen Event organised by our local police:

As usual, they were a pleasure to have! All the groups were polite, well-mannered and asked very sensible questions. I even had to give a couple of the groups 11 out of 10 points – they really were fantastic! I wasn’t the only person to find this, I think everyone agreed how good they were. They were a credit to themselves and to the school – you should be very proud of them!

We are so proud that people in our community notice and even take the time to comment on how impeccable our children conduct themselves even outside of school. Good job Year 6, you set a fine example!

Spelling Bee at Drapers Academy

Tolu, Dylan, Yinka and Kingsley arrived at Drapers Academy read to take on the spellers from the other schools for the prestigious title of best spellers on the hill!

They certainly put up a fight!

After the individual and speedy speller rounds two schools were knocked out and it came down to three, Pyrgo Priory Primary School, St Ursula’s Junior School and us! The competition was really on fire!

In the end, it was head to head between our KS2 spellers and St. Ursula’s. Tension was running high in the hall. Eventually the adjudicator ruled a draw.

Well done to all of the spellers, you could not be beaten!

Brittons Academy Primary Tour

This afternoon years 5 and 6 were the audience to Brittons Academy. The Brittons students, who are studying for their BTec in Music, had to arrange, organise and put on a performance to an audience. A fantastic array of music was performed including singing, samba and guitar playing. Our Years 5 and 6 children were certainly inspired to learn some instruments themselves. A big thanks to Miss Johnson and her Brittons students. Should you be interested in music tuition for your child, please see Miss Reynolds.

Y6 Stubbers Update 4

Year 6 are just about finished with their activities at Stubbers. They will spend the remainder of their time debriefing and packing up their things before leaving just before 5pm. We expect to be back at school between 5:15 and 5:30pm. Please ensure that your child collects their end of year report from their teacher as well as their appointment times slips for parents evenings on Monday and Tuesday before they go home.

Y6 Stubbers Update 3

What better way to spend an evening then round a camp fire with your friends toasting marshmallows and making shmores, followed by a good old fashioned sing song. Year 6 have had a lovely evening and are now burning off any remaining energy left today in the play park and playing cricket.

Y6 Stubbers Update 2

Last night all of year 6 went on a night walk around the grounds of Stubbers to end their first day. Today there have been several activities including sailing, raft building, climbing and a Miss Reynolds' team vs Miss Morris' team Laser Tag shootout. Miss Reynolds' Reds were ultimate laser champions! Tonight the children will sing some campfire songs around the camp fire and toast some marshmallows before bedtime and their last day tomorrow. All are having a wonderful time.
