Year 5 Mersea Island Residential Meeting

We are delighted to inform you that we have a meeting on Wednesday May 3rd at 2:30pm to go through the details of the Year 5 residential trip (5th-7th June 2017). It will be a chance for us to go through the small print of how the time will be organised, what equipment/clothing the children will need and what activities they will be doing.

It will also be a valuable chance for you to ask any questions that you may have.

Following feedback from parents we are willing to offer a 5pm meeting on Wednesday May 3rd, if we have enough responses. If you would be interested in attending the 5pm meeting please sign up on the form outside your child's classroom or alternatively send an email to Miss Connell and Mrs Smith using the year group email address (year56@broadford.havering.sch.uk). Confirmation of the 5pm meeting will be sent home on Monday.

If we are unable to hold this meeting and you are unable to attend the 2:30pm meeting, please see your child's class teacher with any questions or concerns you may have.

Year 5 Learning Challenge Summer 1

We are delighted to provide you with the Year 5 Learning Challenge for the first half of the Summer Term. You will notice that the activities are split into Basic, Advanced and Deep Learning. This is a way for us to look at learning at Broadford, and is designed to ensure that children not only acquire factual knowledge but also gain a further understanding about how their new skills or knowledge can be applied to their own lives or be used to further their cognitive and social development.

The theme of the Learning Challenge for this half of the Spring term is 'Why is geology important?' It is entirely up to the child whether they select the poem, significant person, music or painting, or a combination of all 4. They can also select the activities that they want to attempt, though we would encourage them to deepen their learning as much as possible.
