This half term, the children in Year 6 have been exploring the life of King Henry VIII. To begin their discovery of the Tudor king, the children identified when in history Henry VIII ruled England. Securing a sound knowledge of chronology is important as it allows the children to understand how different time periods influenced one another. Following this, the children went on to learn more about Henry VIII and his family. They used their historical skills to interpret primary and secondary sources to answer questions.
The children were required to draw upon their resourcefulness skills as they used the different sources to extract the correct information.
In history, I have enjoyed applying different skills to understand the time period of the Tudors. When putting the time periods in chronological order I had to combine my numerical skills and historical skills to order the different eras and understand the impact they had on each other.
