Year 5 did so well this week with their learning!

In Redwood, Joe received the Reciprocity certificate, Dorrie received the Presentation certificate and Nina received the Reflectiveness certificate!

In Willow, Sophia received the Reciprocity certificate, Leo received the Presentation certificate and Sabeer received the Resilience certificate!

Year 5 Science

Yesterday, the children participated in a Science lesson focusing on separating and dissolving. They firstly made their predictions about how various substances (sand, oil, coffee, sugar and lentils) would interact with water.

 

After, they carried out an experiment to test the substances in their table groups. They recorded their observations in the table. We discussed key scientific vocabulary such as solute, solution, dissolve and separate and how these relate to our experiment.

Today, your child has received two tickets for you and another to bring to the concert as your entry tickets.

Boys Keep Moving

Our final ‘Boys Keep Moving’ for the year today saw us busy building fires for a host of reasons. These included, building resilience, risk management, team work and encouragement. The bonuses of successful fires on a windy day were staying warm, making popcorn, s’mores and warm drinks. While the fires did their job, the boys had a chance to do some whittling and demonstrated patience and discipline as they did so safely. Well done boys!
