Greek Theatre in Year 5

Pandora's Box

Year 5 enjoyed an ancient Greek workshop this week to finish off their topic all about myths and legends.

On Monday morning, the children had the opportunity to take part in a Pandora's Box experience that they all thoroughly enjoyed. It was a lovely way to begin our week of learning and a fantastic end to our first topic.

It was the best workshop ever! - Peter

I enjoyed learning a different version of the myth - Maddison

Year 5 Certificates

As we approach the end of the first half term, the Year 5 staff would like to say a big well done to all of the children for their positive approach to learning and their enthusiasm for coming to school.

Our Year 5 superstars this week, E for Excellence - Leah and Ellie, Star Writers - Molly and Oliver, I Made my Teacher Happy - D'Shawn, Reciprocity - Blake and Kaley, Resourcefulness - Mitchell and Maisie, Reflectiveness - Kanishka and Harry and Resilience - Brooke and Nela

We would like to wish you all a relaxing, well deserved half term break, and we look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday 2nd November.

Black History Month

As people are aware, October is Black History Month. Here at Broadford we pride ourselves in including this within our curriculum. It is so very important that the children learn about key moments within history and the impact of influential people from the black community.

Each class has studied a chosen individual with the aim of gaining an insight as to why these people are so inspirational and what it was that they managed to achieve regardless of prejudice. Classes then had to produce a piece of artwork to be displayed in our school. Here are some pictures below, I think we can all agree that they are fabulous. A huge well done to our children!

Votes For Schools

The children enjoyed debating our first topic and getting to have their say on what they thought about the environment.
The results are in and you can see below how our children at Broadford voted.

Our vote topic for this week is;

Will cinemas disappear in your lifetime?

Discussion at home:

When was the last time you went to the cinema?

What did you go and see?

What different types of cinemas have you been to (i.e. outdoor, iMax, 3D, singalong, immersive cinema)?

Did you have a favourite?

Which streaming services you have?

Do you prefer them to going to the cinema?

How long do you think cinemas will survive for?

What could we do to make sure they survive?
