In Maths, the children have shown great resilience and reciprocity when using a protractor to measure and draw accurate angles and triangles. These children have really stood out this week:

Year 5 Super Science

This half term in Science we have been looking at the topic All Living Things. We have learned about life cycles and classifying animals into their groups! although we found amphibians the trickiest, sometimes confusing them with reptiles. We have demonstrated our knowledge in a variety of ways including posters, a mobile and a presentation! which we presented in front of the class. This was where we demonstrated two of our 4 Rs the first being reciprocity with working in teams and resilience when it came to standing up and presenting.

"I can't believe we were all that small! there is no way that is you Miss! We're not even halfway through our life cycle yet." - Maggie, Redwood

"I hardly recognise anyone, look how much we have changed in these 10 years!" - Riley, Redwood

“My brother is a teenager. He is at the third stage of a human timeline.” Leonard, Willow

“It was interesting to learn about the different stages of a frog,” Tiana, Maple

 OPAL- Outdoor Play and Learning

The Canoes

We are so lucky that the good weather is continuing. As the grass is drying out we are able to access so much more of the field, giving us more space to play.

As well as all of the active games we have been playing this week. We have also found time for relaxing.

At Broadford we are so fortunate to have not one but two canoes. These are brilliant when we are using them for role - play. We have also found that they can be great spaces to relax in.

There is nothing better than enjoying a good book in the sun.

Which book would you choose to read in a canoe?

As always we would appreciate any more resources you could add to our collection. So, do think of us if you are having a clear out. The items we are looking for will enable us to enjoy a wider range of play experiences during playtime (see below for some examples):

  • Bread crates
  • Cable drums
  • Metal/plastic pots and pans
  • Range of plastic utensils.
  • Guttering
  • Dressing up clothes
  • Blankets (to add to our den building)
  • Small World toys (Dinosaurs, cars etc..)
  • Scooters
  • Deck chairs/ camping chairs (all sizes)
  • Outdoor cushions

Please take any donations to the school office.
