Year 6 Certificates - 25.10.24
Year 5 Autumn term 1
It's been an incredibly long term but the children have risen to the challenge incredibly well.
We have had some thought provoking speeches written by the children using emotive language regarding issues that are important to them.
We had our first group of Stepping Up, where they learned the importance of working in teams, confidence building and celebrated with a graduation attended by our Deputy Head.
Many of our year 5's have started rehearsals in the choir in preperation for the O2 Young Voices.
They have created Christmas cards that parent's/carers can purchase for friends and family.
We completed our Space module with a trip to the Science museum which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
They all worked hard to create a fabulous non-chronological report on the Amazon Rainforest and then Zootropolis!
These were just a few of the lessons and challenges experienced by our Year 5's.
Enjoy your break, we will see you on the 5th November 2024!

Brilliant Boats in Year 6
Brilliant Boats in Year 6
This half term, Year 6 have been working very hard in their art lessons. They have focused on negative and positive space (as well as the grid method).
For their final piece, they have spent the past few weeks creating masterpieces in the shape of boats. Year 6 were resourceful as they used recyclable materials to construct a boat before covering it in paper. Today, they water coloured their negative space and stuck their figures (of themselves) over the top.
The children then reflected on what went well with their designs and creations and what they would do differently next time.
"I loved today's lesson, especially the positive and negative space. It was so fun!" Najhat, Birch
"Scarlett and I were thinking of doing something creative so we made a unique engine and fingerprint patterns all across our boat." - Manreet, Larch
"Negative space is the backgrounds of a picture or sculpture. The main focus is not the negative space." Meerab, Redwood

Year 6 Cinema Trip - 19.11.24
Year 6 Cinema Trip - Tuesday 19th November 2024
Please complete the form to give permission for your child to attend.
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to inform you that another trip has been booked for our Year 6 children. In celebration of the Into Film Festival, the children will be attending a viewing of ‘Wish’ at Vue in Romford.
On Tuesday 19th November, all children should be in school by 8.30am as we will be leaving promptly at 8:45am. We will be travelling by bus and expect to arrive back at school by 12.30pm.
The children will eat lunch at school once we have returned from the cinema. In case we are back late that day, all children will eat a packed lunch (provided by school or home). Children are more than welcome to bring their own snacks and soft drink to consume whilst watching the film.
We will need some parent volunteers to help out on the day. Please register your interest on the form, if you would like to accompany your child's class on the trip. Please note that parent volunteers will be chosen on a first come, first served basis, as we have a limited number of cinema tickets available. We will also take into account which parents have already had the opportunity to accompany us on a trip.
We are extremely fortunate to not only have received these tickets free of charge in celebration of the annual Into Film Festival. We cannot wait to enjoy this fun day out with Year 6!
Yours faithfully,
Year 6 Team

Year 6 Visit The British Museum
"There are various places in The British Museum to learn about ancient cultures and society. We also discovered a variety of artefacts." Max, Birch
Children in Need - 15.11.2024
21st October 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
Broadford will be hosting a very special day to raise money for Children In Need this year on Friday 15th November.
This will include:
Non-uniform day with a theme.
Design a new Pudsey competition to take place within classes.
Fun Pudsey themed activities to take part in throughout the day in class.
This year's theme encourages you to be SPOTacular!
The children can wear any spotty clothing they own or if you are struggling to find clothing to match the theme a simple idea would be to draw polka dots on a plain t-shirt. If you would like to add Pudsey accessories to your outfit feel free! We ask that you contribute £1 per family to this great cause if your child is in non-uniform and any further donations are welcome.
I am sure that we will all have a fun day raising money for Children In Need.
Kind Regards,
Miss Hamilton and Mrs Green
