Year 6 Learn Makaton

This afternoon Cathy, who is a Makaton tutor, came in to teach the whole school some important signs for this language and Year 6 met with her for a workshop too. Makaton was formed in the 1980s by three people who wanted to help children and adults (who find speaking difficult) communicate. Makaton is made up with simple signs which can be combined to create sentences. 

The workshop was awesome because we were able to learn a new language so we can speak to people who are unable to communicate with us.
