Today Broadford celebrated International Literacy Day. Elm and Maple classes (Y5) swapped with Cedar and Cherry classes (Y2) and the children shared their favourite books with each other. Some of the children's favourite books were Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach because they like how bizarre the story is and The Princess and the Wizard by Julia Donaldson because of all the different characters.
Did you know that approximately 775 million (64% of whom are women) are illiterate, meaning they lack the basic reading and writing skills to manage daily living and employment tasks?
