Maple plant scientists - Part 1

In Science we have been investigating plants! We have looked at photosynthesis and how plants make their own food using sunlight and chlorophyll. We conducted an experiment with leaves, boiling them to break down their outer layers then testing with chemicals to see if photosynthesis had been completed.

Inside our test tubes we had methanol and our boiled leaves. The solution is green as the outer layer of the leaf has been broken down and chlorophyll has been released!
