Year 5- Internet Safety Day!

Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
We started our discussions by asking these 3 key questions:
How can we safely use mobile phones and the Internet?
What kind of things must we never share and why?
What can we do if we see something online or are shown something that makes us feel worried or confused?

In year 5 we had some fantastic discussions about staying safe online and we were also incredibly shocked by some of the answers when we played the 'True or False' quiz:

In order to help children use the interent safely, Maple class created 'Internet safety leaflets' and Elm class created 'Stay safe online' posters (Images coming soon of the finished products).
 Some comments from Elm:
Morgan, "Today, I have learnt that it is not safe to put your personal information on the internet."
Charis, "I can't believe that once you have posted something on the internet it can never be deleted."
Ronnie, "Don't ever post anything on social media that you are uncomfortable with or you wouldn't like done to you!"
Adi, "Report an image or a video to an adult/ the website if you find it inappropriate or uncomfortable."
