Year 5 and 6 - Knife Crime assembly

Today, all of the Year 5 and Year 6 classes were joined by David from 'You and Me Counselling'. This is an organisation that works with schools and young people safeguarding them against the issues that they are facing in today’s world. This assembly taught the children how to stay safe in the community and David discussed the current impact of knife crime.

David explained how it is the future generations such as Broadford's Year 5 and 6 classes that can make a difference. He discussed a variety of scenarios and how to stay safe in these situations.

Three Top Tips:
  • Do not carry a knife or sharp object and encourage your peers to do the same.
  • If anyone asks for any of your possessions, the police recommendation is to give it to them.
  • If someone is following you, change direction/cross the road and seek safety in a shop.

We are all deeply saddened at the recent senseless attack and loss of life in our community. Our heartfelt condolences go to the family of Jodie Chesney and all affected by the tragic loss.

If you would like any support or to discuss any concerns please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Safeguarding team in school.

Thank you for your continued support.
