During our Geography lessons the children were learning about South America.
They started this unit by looking at their enquiry question
'How does South America compare to the UK when looking at their population, mountains and rivers.' Throughout this topic they discussed ways and worked collaboratively to find the answers to this question.
To help bring the topic to life, the children were lucky enough to finish off this unit by having a Virtual Reality workshop!
Using VR the children were able to immerse themselves in the rich cultures and landscapes of South America. Firstly, they visited Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and saw Christ the Redeemer. They then toured the Amazon Rainforest and discovered that over 50% of all animals in the world are found there! Next, they stopped by at Machu Picchu in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Following that, they went to the Galapagos Islands and played with a Giant Galapagos Tortoise. Their final destination was the highest waterfall in the World, the Angel Falls, in Venezuela. Wow! What an eventful and exciting journey they have had!
'Some of it was scary but really good fun. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful Giant Galapagos Tortoise the most' - Harvey, Redwood
