Year 6 Biscuit Tasting

This week in Year 6, the children have been tasting biscuits as part of their new Design and Technology  unit. They started the lesson by considering what dietary needs are important and why. We looked at the different biscuits that were available in the supermarkets and what dietary needs they covered.  The children tasted four different biscuits and had to think about the texture, appearance, taste and smell of each one. They then rated each biscuit accordingly. The children used their reciprocity skills when working as part of a group and made their decision on what type of biscuit they would like to make in our future Design and Technology lesson.

“My favourite biscuit was the ginger nut because it tasted a bit spicy.” Cameron, Birch

"This is the best lesson of the day by far.  I enjoyed tasting the biscuits, talking about the flavours and textures.  My favourite was the ginger biscuit - I liked the little burning sensation after I ate it!" - Oliver, Redwood.

"I didn't realise there were different types of biscuits for different dietary needs. " - Emma
