Year 6 Certificates 24.10.25

Our first half term in Year 6 has flown by, and what a brilliant start it’s been! The children have worked incredibly hard and should be so proud of all they’ve achieved. This week, we got wild outside with some fun activities, and it was wonderful to share just how well everyone is doing during parents’ evening.

Have a lovely, restful half-term — you’ve all earned it!

Year 6 - Wild Passport Day!

🌿 Wild Passport Day: Shelter Builders!

During Wild Passport Day, learners explored how animals and humans create shelters for protection and comfort. Through a series of hands-on outdoor challenges, they:

  • Built bird’s nests using natural materials and tweezers to mimic a bird’s beak.

  • Constructed mini animal or gnome shelters designed to keep them warm, dry, and safe.

  • Created different types of shelters — from dens to ridge line and storm shelters — using ropes, tarps, and natural resources.

On completion of the Wild Passport activities, the children had the opportunity to practise their orienteering skills.

The children had a fantastic time!

I am sorry I didn't get many pics, they were running around all over the playground! I promise to take loads on our next Wild Passport Day! Here are some quotes:

Zayd - I really enjoyed orienteering, me and my partner used to map to identify the next two places and then split up so we could complete it in the shortest amount of time!

Ayaan - We looked at three different shelters and made gnome homes.

Fariha  - I loved looking at the different shelters and playing Zombie tag!

Year 6: Turning 2D drawings into 3D!

2D Drawings into 3D Objects

During this half-term the children have explored artists who use drawing skills to create objects.  They have learnt how to use negative space and the grid method to improve their drawing skills.  This has culminated in them transforming their drawing of a lizard (based on our class novel 'Holes') into a 3-dimensional object.

Year 5 Science trip

Year 5 Science Museum Trip

Dear Parents/ Carers,

On Tuesday 21st October 2025, Year 5 will be visiting the Science Museum in London. During the second half term, we will be learning about Earth and Space so we will be using the trip to excite the pupils. We have also been lucky enough to book on to the space exhibition as well as the ‘Wonderlab’ experience. We will be travelling there on a bus and train.

We will be leaving school at 8.45am so please make sure your child is at school at 8.30am. We should arrive back at school by the usual time of 3.15pm however, if there are any changes, we will update parents/ carers on the school Facebook page.

Children should be coming into school in their school uniform but ensuring that they are wearing appropriate and comfortable shoes as we will be doing a lot of walking. A school packed lunch has been ordered for your child as a precaution but they are welcome to bring their own packed lunch.

If you are able to help on the trip, please speak to your child’s class teacher or email the Year 5 inbox at:

year5@broadford.havering.sch.uk

We’re looking forward to our first school trip with Year 5!
