Today we focused on distinguishing between regular and irregular polygons. The children identified the features of polygons and were able to justify their reasoning for why polygons were regular or irregular.
In addition to this, the children worked collaboratively to identify the nets of 3-D shapes and began drawing their own nets to represent several 3-D shapes.
Later, they created their own tetrahedrons, hexagonal prisms and more from paper nets.
Evie from Elm said, "When I was looking at the nets, I imagined folding them in my head to see what shape they would make."
Fayo from Elm said, "It was very interesting to see how the nets folded up, it was a task you definitely had to think deeply about."
Kaitlyn from Maple said, "It was fun and challenging at the same time."
Ronnie from Elm said, "I found it challenging to draw the regular pentagon because you had to get the 72 degree angle correct."
