Year 5 Ancient Greek day

Today Year 5 have had a brilliant day participating in various Ancient Greek themed activities.

The day began with a lesson about the famous Greek thinkers; Socrates, Aristotle, Pythagoras and Plato. The children produced fantastic fact files documenting the lives of these philosophers and mathematicians.

Following this, the children wrote their names using the Greek alphabet and sampled different types of Greek foods; pitta bread, black olives, tzatziki and feta cheese.

Later in the day, they produced laurel wreath out of paper and learnt about the use of the these wreaths in the Ancient Olympic games.

The day was completed  by trying out some relays outside in honour of the Olympic games.

Elliot said, "I think day has been the best because we have been taste testing, making wreaths and learning more about the Ancient Greeks."
