Having already learnt so much about the circulatory system, this week, the children made their own blood! They started with making the plasma, using water and yellow food colouring. After that, they added salt to act as minerals. They then coloured cheerios in red to represent their red blood cells. White blood cells (marshmallows) and platelets (purple pom poms) were added into the bottle. The children were all able to discuss what they were adding in and what its purpose was.
" I feel like I learnt so much more about what is in our blood because we had a chance to add all the parts to the blood ourselves," said Darci.
"I was a bit sceptical at first because I didn't know what was going to happen, but then I really had loads of fun," recalled Meerab.
" I am definitely going to try this at home!" squealed Sahir! Sorry Parents!
