Year 6 - Summer Curriculum Newsletter
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the last half of the Summer Term! This term we will finish with a spectacular performance for parents and other pupils towards the end of the Summer term, which the children are really looking forward to! Finally, there will of course be a Year 6 Celebration Evening in which the children’s achievements will be highlighted as they prepare to move on to secondary school. More information will become available closer to the events but please find provisional dates below.
Homework:
Our expectation at Broadford is that every child should do the following every night:
- 15 minutes reading to themselves or an adult and note in the reading record
- 15 minutes practicing spellings
- 15 minutes rehearsing times tables facts (including multiplication and division)
Spellings:
Spellings will be given out on Mondays. The children should practice their words every evening. In addition to practising their spellings, the children can find the definitions of the words and use them in sentences, which will allow them to earn an extra merit. The test will take place on Fridays. Children who achieve full marks in the spelling test for a whole term will receive a prize in the last assembly of the year.
Curriculum Information
We have included a summary of the topics which the children will be covering this term. If you would like to make any suggestions of what you or your child would like to learn in relation to the topics taught, please complete the form attached and return it to your child’s class teacher. We welcome any suggestions you may have.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Chau and Mr Light

Please practice the times tables with your children. The school is continuing to focus on Arithmetic this term and it would be of great help if your children could learn them.
Useful websites:
The children can also use ‘My Maths’. The login for this program is broadford and the password is triangle. Each child has been given a personal login so that they can access tasks the class teacher has set for them.
