In Year 5 we are exploring the five human senses in Science. Yesterday, we conducted a smell experiment in which the children were required to identify a variety of different smells such as cinnamon and shampoo, whilst blindfolded.
The children were working in partners; taking it in turns to detect the smells and record their predictions. This experiment was therefore an an excellent test of their teamwork, reciprocity and listening skills.
The children approached the task with scientific curiosity as well as a keen awareness of the health and safety requirements of the task. The activity was therefore a great success!
Tyler in Elm expressed his delight at tackling this lesson,
“I enjoyed smelling the different items and working together to find out what they were. It was really fun.”
