Firstly we wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the parents, carers and family members who attended the session on Tuesday.
We started the session with a battle of the times tables with our Rockstars worksheets. It was great to see some of the children competing against their parents with their times tables against the clock.

Next we discussed our ‘Starter for 5’ activity, which the children complete at the start of every lesson in order to recap and consolidate previous learning.
Developing reasoning skills in maths at (and before) ks2 is crucial to succeeding in the new curriculum SATs. This is why at Broadford we think that mathematics should be about exploring, reasoning and problem solving.
In Year 5 we have been encouraging all of the children to be able to identify what is the problem and to explain/ justify the solution.
We really appreciate all of your continued support.
Thank you again from the Broadford Year 5 team!
