This week, Year 5 and 6 have been studying the life and extraordinary
ventures of famous Victorian, Dr.Barnardo. The children were captivated by the
heroic gestures that the doctor displayed in his mission to save Victorian
children from a life of poverty and hard working conditions.

The children were so inspired by Dr. Barnardo's story, that they wrote
letters to the doctor himself, imagining they were Victorian working children
begging to be allowed to stay at Hope Place for boys or Village House for
girls. In fact, three children wrote such fantastic letters,
that they have been awarded Star Writer awards. Well done Louise, Liam and
Kingsley! They can expect to be writing many more letters with their brand new,
shiny, golden Star Writer Award pencils.
