In maths this week, part of our learning includes finding multiples. To begin with, the children were presented with 2 sets of numbers, represented as pink and blue, though some orange numbers also appeared. The children's aim was to figure out how to classify the numbers. Some children suggested the numbers were in the 6 times tables, others suggested they were odd and even numbers, until they eventually discovered that they were arranged into multiples of 2, 3 and common multiples.
The children then had a go at representing multiples of a number as an array (equally grouping a given multiple). They did so using concrete objects (multilink) before showing this pictorially on their whiteboards.
I think it is fair to say that they are now masters of multiples!
