TfL data workshop

Yesterday year 5 and year 6 enjoyed the visit of Transport for London for a workshop on how data is used to shape millions of journeys every year. The children looked at how TFL categorise which routes and stations are the busiest at different times of the day, created a human bar chart in how they travel into school and even got to see how pedestrian crossings are operated with specialist cameras counting the number of people waiting by the side of the road! Perhaps though the real highlight of the day was when the children had the opportunity to create a real life simulation of how a traffic jam can be prevented with TFL research and data- something I'm sure we are all keen to see in action!
