Year 6 Diwali Celebrations

 Year 6 Diwali Celebrations.

To celebrate the festival of Diwali, Year 6 had a creative afternoon. The children used an arrangement of colourful paper to try their hand at creating some rangoli patterns. With plenty of resilience the children traced the intricate designs and then filled them with numerous colours. Creating a welcoming and joyous pattern.

Happy Diwali from everyone in Year 6.

Year 5 Swimming Update

Year 5 Swimming Lesson Update

Parents and Pupils | Swim England School Swimming Guidance

Apologies for all the confusion regarding Year 5 swimming lesson dates. Central Park have sent through an updated list of dates for swimming for each class, which we will share with you below.

Swimming lessons will take place every Wednesday (excluding school holidays) on the following dates:

Maple - Wednesday 2nd November 2022 - Wednesday 25th January 2023

Willow - Wednesday 1st February 2023 - Wednesday 26th April 2023

Redwood - Wednesday 3rd May 2023 - Wednesday 19th July 2023

If there are any further changes to the dates, we will let you know as soon as we are made aware by Central Park.

A reminder of what your child will need:

  • Swimming costume or swimming trunks (no bikinis please!)

  • A towel

  • A named bag to carry and store their items in

  • A swimming hat

  • Goggles (not essential, but can be worn if preferred)

When it's their turn, the children will leave school in the afternoon, accompanied by Year 5 staff, and we will make our way to Central Park Leisure Centre on foot. We will return to school by approximately 3.25/3.30pm and children will be leaving from the front of the school by the office.

Children should come to school in their uniform and will get changed when we arrive at Central Park Leisure Centre. Please note, no aerosols or powders should be given to children, as these can cause problems for children with asthma.

All children, regardless of ability, will be taking part in swimming lessons as they are a National Curriculum requirement. Children will only be exempt from lessons with a signed and dated doctor’s note or certificate.

If you have any questions or queries about this or any other swimming related issue, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 5 team via year5@broadford.havering.sch.uk.
