Year 5 and 6 Secure Second Place!

Year 5 and 6 Secure Second Place!

This morning, a group of excited young athletes took part in an action-packed NFL Flag Festival that brought fun, energy and a great sense of teamwork to the field. The first half of the session featured a carousel of skills, where the children rotated through a series of engaging drills and activities run by experienced NFL Flag players - an amazing opportunity for them to learn from the best!

The second half saw the kids put their new skills into action with a series of competitive matches. We are incredibly proud of Team Broadford, who showed fantastic determination and team spirit throughout the day, finishing in an impressive 2nd place after winning three games, drawing one and losing just one.

 What a brilliant achievement!

Great Gymnasts in Year 6

 Great Gymnasts in Year 6

This half term, Year 6 will be doing gymnastics in PE. This week, we began using momentum to help us roll as well as using strong body tension to keep our shape in a straddle roll.

We revised our pike, tuck, straddle, front support, back support and dish positions before completing three rolls: straddle roll, forward roll and backwards roll.

Year 6 were extremely resilient when it came to navigating their way through difficult positions.

Year 6 showed great reciprocity as they worked safely with a partner/ group to show awareness of their abilities.

"I need to make sure I tuck my head in when I do my rolls so I don't hurt my neck," Raffy, Birch

“I like balancing on my hands like doing a push up.” George, Larch

Broadford Achieve Silver Games Mark Award

Broadford Achieve Silver Games Mark Award

We are delighted to announce that we,Broadford Primary School, have achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

We have been lucky enough to participate in many sporting events with a total of nearly 200 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year. We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to the PE team (Miss Evans, Miss Wyatt and Miss Mullen) who have worked hard to ensure we were successful with our application.

We look forward to applying once again in 2025!
