Y6 Stay and Learn - Tuesday 3rd June @ 2.30pm

   Y6 OPAL Stay & Learn

Tuesday 3rd June 2025 @ 2.30pm

Play time is a hidden part of the school day for you, so our Summer term 'Stay and Learn' sessions will allow you to see how play at break and lunchtime has developed during Broadford’s OPAL journey, how the children are playing and, also, gives context to the requests and pleas that we often send out to the school community e.g., welly requests, loose parts donations, fundraising efforts.

You are invited to come during the afternoon on Tuesday 3rd June at 2.30pm, firstly we will give you some information on OPAL and then we will invite you to play with your child/children in the school grounds.

If possible, please bring a loose part donation to help with den making, for instance a tyre, clean wood, tarpaulin, plastic pipe, crate. We also are always looking for ride-on toys, scooters, old suitcases and anything form the loose parts list send out previously.

We look forward to seeing you!

Year 6 loved having their parents/carers visit them in class !

We looked at the end of year expectations for reading and writing, did a mini Guided Reading lesson (with SATs style questions)  and then had a look through our literacy books with our adults.

Year 5 Stay and Learn

 Year 5 Stay and Learn

This morning, Year 5 had their final Stay and Learn of the year! The focus was writing. We discussed writing expectations, the writing journey and what literacy lessons look like.

The children then worked with their parents to create a word bank of descriptive phrases (including metaphors, similes and personification) linked to a setting in 'The Highwayman.' Everyone showed impressive reciprocity when working in their pairs and groups.

The children (and their parents) came up with some excellent vocabulary that they will be able to use in their writing next week!

“It was really fun having my mum here to help me with my work!” Zuriel, Willow

‘It was so much fun sharing ideas with my brother and getting him to join in with my work.’ Etana, Maple

"It was amazing getting to impress my mum with my metaphors!" Varvara, Redwood

Here are the slides from the Stay and Learn today.
