Year 6 immerse themselves in a new topic!

Today, Year 6 started their new literacy topic in which they’ll be writing a procedural text on ‘how to execute the perfect…’

Each child will complete an instruction-like text on their chosen sport; for example how to shoot the perfect penalty.

In the lesson pictured below, the children immersed themselves in their chosen sport, really drilling down into the details of what they wanted to perfect. Some children were practicing cartwheels, some practiced their throwing skills using a Rugby ball.

All the Year 6 teachers were so impressed with the children’s ability to follow instructions and not take this as an opportunity to play.

Some children worked well together to practice each others skill and all children ended the lesson with a page of detailed notes for our future lessons.

Year 5 R.E. 25/04/23

In Year 5, we explained the impact of religion in people's decisions relating to getting married and their married ceremony. All the children were given nine statements that they had to place from most important to least important. They then had to provide explanations for their positions of the statements.

'I think the most important reason to get married is because it is legally recognised,' Janiyah, Maple

“I think the most important reason people should be getting married is because they’re truly in love with the person.” Ellie , Willow

"I think it is important to have a partner for life in all struggles". - Maggie ,Redwood

OPAL - We need pallets please

OPAL- Outdoor Play and Learning

We need pallets please

We are looking for as many wooden pallets as we can possibly get. These pallets will be used for the children's creative play as well as forming boxes for storage.

If you are able to donate please let the school office know to arrange a suitable time.

We are also in need of pots and pans for the mud kitchens. If you have any old pans or utensils you are not using, please either bring into the school office or hand in to your child's class teacher.

We greatly appreciate all the donations we receive. Thank you for your continuing support.

Meeting the Mayor

 Meeting the Mayor

On Monday, Years 3 - 6 School Council members were lucky enough to meet the Mayor of Havering at the Town Hall in Romford.

He taught us all about his role and the history of Havering before giving us the opportunity to ask any questions we had! The children came out with some excellent questions and the Mayor commented on their outstanding behaviour whilst there.

All children were then given the opportunity to hold the Mayor's mace!

We are so glad that the children enjoyed this opportunity and represented their school beautifully during their trip!

Year 5 and 6 PE/ Forest Schools

Year 5 and 6 Forest School/ PE

Forest School – Central Primary School

Dear parents/ carers,

Please could we remind you that children need a PE kit and PE shoes for their PE lessons and a pair of jogging bottoms (even in the summer term, shorts/dresses are not suitable for Forest School) and a change of shoes (welly boots/old shoes) for their Forest School lessons.

These can all be left in school and then taken home for washing each holiday so that children only need to remember them once every half term.  All the classes now have pegs outside the door for the hanging of bags of PE kit/outdoor clothing and shoes.

We appreciate all of your support with this!
