Fantastic Finale
For the Fantastic Finale we will show off our work and discuss
everything we now know about building and racing the fastest cars in the world.
What a joyous month it has been celebrating the impact of Black pioneers, creatives and world changers. This year's theme was 'Standing firm in power and pride' which was a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe.
The children experienced a guest speaker, Dr Grace Bello, who shared her journey to becoming a doctor and stirring up ambition in our children. She spoke about barriers and hammers to achieving your goals and had a session with some children who aspired to work in the field of science and medicine.

During the month, there was a research and art project that allowed each year group to explore a Black Briton who had made significant impact in their field. These pieces were collated into a growing whole school History book filled with fantastic pieces of work.
This year, we also spent time discussing the power of voice and wrote poetry to convey this message.
Our third, seemingly annual, music video is out now!
Lines tailored to the hope for the future of each Broadford child were learnt and rapped to an instrumental called ' I Can' followed by dancing with Soul Train inspiration to 'Aint no stopping us now' by McFadden and Whitehead.
The children and class videographers (the teachers) have outdone themselves. Enjoy!
Yesterday, forty children from Years 2 to 6 participated in the Drapers Sports Day competition at Drapers Academy.
The children represented their school beautifully as they showed huge resilience with each and every event they took part in. The events included: tug of war, bean bag throw, vortex throw, sprints, relays and long jump. The pupils displayed their reciprocity skills as they not only supported their team mates but children from other schools too.

We are so proud of all of the children who participated in Drapers Sports Day!
Yesterday we were fortunate enough to take a team of Year 3 and 4 children to Hornchurch Sports Centre to take part in the Sportshall Athletics competition, which is run by the Havering Sports Collective.
The children showed huge resilience as they competed in a variety of events including: relay races, obstacle races, hurdles, speed bounce, long jump, five strides, verticle jump and chest push. They represented their school excellently with their determination and inspiring reciprocity to their team mates (and the other schools participating).
Broadford Primary School came 6th and all the children deserve to be very proud of themselves!
From Friday (19th January 2024), there will be an opportunity for all children in Year 3 and 4 to attend athletics training sessions with Miss Evans from 3.15pm-4.10pm. We have an upcoming competition and thought this would be a lovely opportunity for the Year 3 and 4 children to try out and train together!

Year 4 and 5 have thoroughly enjoyed their swimming lessons this term and it has been wonderful to watch the progression they have made with their skills and confidence in the water.
Please note that Lime (Year 5 ) and Elm (Year 4) class had their final swimming session last week so there will be no lesson this week.
Lime class children will need to be collected/ will be walking home at the normal time of 3.15.
This term, your pupil will take part in the MTC (Multiplication Tables Check) that all schools in the country are required to complete. The multiplication check will take place within a three week window beginning Tuesday 7th of June 2022, after our half-term break.
The purpose of the check is to determine whether pupils can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help your child’s teacher/s to identify pupils who may need additional support as they move into Year 5.
The MTC is an on-screen check consisting of 25 multiplication questions. Your child will answer 3 practice questions before moving onto the official check where they will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.
The children have been practicing for this test all year and we are very proud of the progress they have made so far. If you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to contact me.

Now we are in the throes of a bumper summer of sport, voters explore whether sport events should subject to the same Coronavirus rules as other parts of society. In the assembly, they explore some of the more unusual sports from around the world.

With the summer holidays on the horizon, we wanted to revisit safety outside school to ensure voters feel confident and empowered to speak up if they feel they or someone they know might be at risk. Please Note: It is advisable to review the Years 4-6 Lesson and the assembly prior to teaching.
Pupils explore the data that is being shared by NHS Digital, and consider the pros and cons of this. In the assembly, they reflect on the significance of the NHS and the careers on offer there.

For both School Diversity Week and Pride Month, pupils explore whether school uniforms create a much-needed sense of belonging, or whether they stop us from showing who we really are. Description
Ahead of Refugee Week 2021, KS1 pupils discuss what home means to them, while KS2 pupils explore the 2014-2019 European Refugee Crisis and what the situation is in the UK today.
Ahead of May half term, pupils explore the various travel restrictions in place around the world and decide whether we should be going abroad at all this year. Please Note: Our assembly this week focuses on the current situation in Palestine & Israel.

For Mental Health Awareness Week 2021, pupils explore how the natural world can benefit our wellbeing. In the assembly, they consider the concept of "eco-anxiety" and what can be done about it. KS1 Lesson KS2 Lesson
Pupils explore what boundaries are, how to know when someone has crossed ours or we've crossed theirs, and how to prevent this from happening. Meanwhile in the assembly, pupils reflect on the life of Prince Philip.
