 Year 6 Citizenship Workshop

Today the children in Year 6 took part in a citizenship workshop. During this workshop the children were able to explore moving onto Secondary School: how this might make them feel, what challenges they may come across and strategies to deal with those challenges. 

The children expressed they were feeling a range of emotions with regards to Year 7: excited, enthralled, happy, sad, worried and nervous. They were able to reflect on how if they can recognise and name their emotions they become easier to deal with, discuss with others and help others with how they might be feeling. This also gave the children an opportunity to reflect back on how they felt - all those years ago- when they started Primary School. These opportunities of reflection allowed for the children to think back on all they have achieved whilst at Broadford: what has made them proud? What are their fondest memories? What challenges have they overcome? Some very funny anecdotes were shared by many. 

In addition, to looking into the past the children had the opportunity to look to the future and what Year 7 holds for them. The opportunity to meet new friends, learn new things and have new experiences. Although these things all sound very exciting, it was also discussed how some aspects of Year 7 can be very daunting, especially homework and detention were mentioned by many. To alleviate some of these worries, it was discussed how the resources learnt at Primary School can definitely help in these new and uncertain experiences. Our three Broadford jobs should help stand them in good stead. 

To complete the session they discussed how, when worried and faced with big emotions there are resources and strategies the children can apply to help them: visually memorising their toolbox allows their toolbox to go everywhere with them, mindful breathing allows them to take a moment before reacting and listening to the inner voice, which will guide them to the right choices and help keep them calm.

Year Five Team for September 2020

Hello everyone! 

Now is the time to introduce you to your new teachers for September. They are all extremely excited to meet you and have been working hard to plan lots of exciting lessons!

Drapers' Academy Transition Meeting Year 6

Miss Brooks from Drapers' Academy came to visit Year 6 today. The children had a question and answers session about what to expect, the daily routine, after school clubs, rules, how to find your way around the building, school trips and many more questions were answered too. The children are definitely feeling excited about starting at their new school.

Year 6 Secondary School Transfer Information

As part of a review of Admissions processes the Borough will no longer be posting letters to parents with the results of their ‘Secondary School Transfer’ application.

As this is the first year that all parents have submitted their applications electronically, parents will receive an e-mail with the outcome of their application during the evening of 2 March 2015 where they will also be advised to log back into their eAdmissions account to respond to the offer.

The email will also advise parents to visit the Havering website to download one of the generic letters which will explain what they can do in the event where they did not get their 1st preference school.

Letters will however be sent to those parents who have applied under any social and medical criterion.

Drapers' Academy Visitor

Assistant Vice Principal Mr Bannister from Drapers’ Academy came to visit Year 6 today.  Drapers’ Academy would like to invite all Year 5 and 6 pupils and parents to visit the Academy for their Open Evening.

Open Evening will be Monday 22^nd September 2015 6.00pm-9.00pm.

Brittons Academy Primary Tour

This afternoon years 5 and 6 were the audience to Brittons Academy. The Brittons students, who are studying for their BTec in Music, had to arrange, organise and put on a performance to an audience. A fantastic array of music was performed including singing, samba and guitar playing. Our Years 5 and 6 children were certainly inspired to learn some instruments themselves.
