 Year 5 Easter Egg Hunt

Year 5 had a brilliant time today completing their Easter egg hunt.

We were given a range of Maths clues to solve and when we had solved them we were rewarded with our Easter bunnies to celebrate.

“This was really fun and educational.” Faramade, Almond

“It was amazing because we had to work out 12 hard Maths questions to get the chocolate.” Max, Lime

Here are some clues. Could you solve them?

Year 1 Sportshall Athletics

                                                             Year 1 Sportshall Athletics

Last week, we were fortunate enough to take a team of Year 1 children to Hornchurch Sports Centre to take part in the Sportshall Athletics competition, which is run by the Havering Sports Collective.

The children showed huge resilience as they competed in a variety of events including: relay races, speed bounce, hurdles, bowling, long jump, javalin and chest push. They represented their school excellently with their determination and inspiring reciprocity to their team mates (and the other schools participating).

Broadford Primary School came 7th and all the children deserve to be very proud of themselves!

We can't wait for the next event!

Year 5 Guided Reading

 Riveting Reading in Year 5

Year 5 have been reading even more of their text 'Letters from the Lighthouse.' Today we read a chapter where the main character (Olive) discovers her sister has been involved in a secret mission involving refugees.

Our activity involved rolling a dice with our partners and answering questions about the text.

"I loved Guided Reading today because you got to work with your partner so it was educational but fun at the same time." Najhat, Lime

“I am still concerned about Sukie’s  whereabouts. The book has so many unsolved mysteries.” Megan, Almond

"I really enjoyed that this was teamwork, I think This books leaves me with nothing but unanswered questions" - George, Oak

Knife Crime workshop in Year 5

 Knife Crime Workshop

This week in year 5, we had the opportunity to observe a knife crime assembly and take part in a knife crime workshop. The workshop started off with an assembly which hooked us all into a character named Gabriel and how he was stuck at a crossroad and unsure off which path to cross. We had to use our resilience; due to how the topic was at time intense. We had to use our resourcefulness: when we attempted to apply empathy and consider our own experiences when providing suggestions. We also used our reflectiveness: when we considered our close friends and families, most importantly our own safe adults.

Oak

"I can understand why Gabriel feels so torn, it's his friend at the end of the day!" - Olive, Oak

Lime

"At the end of the day, there is still right and wrong!" - Shivanshi, Lime

Almond

"I didn't realise this happens at our age," - Aisha, Almond
