Harold Hill Police visit Year 6

Year 6 were lucky enough to be included in the 'Clear Hold Build' initiative from the police in Harold Hill.

They had to design a logo which represented Harold Hill and would represent the campaign.

The winner of the competition was none other than Rubie-Rae!

She won a framed certificate and will be attending a visit at the Houses of Parliament with her family.

Every child that took part got a certificate and had an person thanks from the police.

Year 5 Community Champions

On Tuesday 29th November, Year 5 will be supporting their local community by participating in a community clear up!

Each class will be taken outside of (and around) Broadford Primary School with gloves, litter pickers and bin bags ready to help clear up the community space.

WE walk for water 3/5/19

It is a non school uniform day tomorrow as the children will be participating in the WE walk for water campaign where they will walk four laps around the field in order to raise money so that they can provide water for those that don't have it.

Please bring in 50p per family for the non uniform day.

Year 5 Mass Litter March - 09/04/19

What a fantastic yesterday! Some super Year 5 children and their parents helped us clean up our streets in Harold Hill! They were so quick and handy and the  children were very competitive as to who would have the biggest bag!

A huge thank you to all those involved in the litter pick up yesterday. It was really inspirational to see everyone getting together to make Harold Hill a cleaner place.

KS2 - Dads* and Kids Campfire Night

Wednesday 7th March

5.30pm - 6.30pm

On Wednesday 7th March, we welcome Dads* to bring their children along for a Campfire Night at Broadford School. This event will be hosted by Rev. Richard Shorter. It will be quality time for Dads* and their children to spend together making a fire, toasting marshmallows and playing outdoor team games.

The weather seems to be improving, however, if it is wet, we will still plan to go ahead.

*This invite is for Dads or any other significant male within the family. Children are welcome to bring along Granddad, Uncle or older brother etc...

We would like to get an idea of rough numbers, so please do let either your child's class teacher, Mrs Stanley or the office staff know if you wish to attend. Alternatively, just leave a comment below this post.

SEN Coffee Morning Reminder

SEN Coffee Morning


On Thursday 17th November @ 9am until 10.00am, we will be hosting a SEN Coffee morning to discuss Speech, Language and Communication issues.

If your child is in Early Years or KS1 and receiving speech and language support at school, then you should have received your invitation already.

If you haven't received your invitation and your child receives in school support for speech and language, please feel free to attend. This invite is extended all to any parents or guardians of children in KS2 who also receive speech and language support.

You will have the opportunity to talk to our speech and language team and see some practical ideas so you can help your child at home.


You will also have the opportunity to meet the staff from our Inclusion team who will be able to give you a copy of your child’s targets and additional information.

Home Crime Prevention Task

Our local Police Officer, PC Wayne Hopkins, came to visit Year 6 today. Speaking to the children about a wider initiative to reduce burglaries in the area. The children took part in a class discussion on how they could do things around the home to reduce the chance of being burgled. They were then given a home school task to complete. It's important to remember, Don't be scared, be practical! 

Home Crime Prevention Task

Task 1: Show the leaflets inside your homework pack to parents.

Task 2: Tell you parents how important it is to mark your property.

Task 3: Identify all the items in your house which you need to property mark.

Task 4: Get your parents to help mark your property. 

Children in Need merchandise

Year 5 will be coming to classes from today selling official Children in Need merchandise. Should you wish for your child to purchase an item or items please place their money in a sealed envelope and label this with their name. The official children in Need event is this Friday. Be sure to get your merchandise quickly as we have a limited stock!  

Palm & Coconut: Save the date

Calling all parents in Palm and Coconut! You are cordially invited to attend Broadford's first Maths Party! The event will be held on Friday 7th November between 9am and 9.30, with the idea that parents get involved and join in with some maths games and activities -and possibly some competitions too! Please save the date and come down! Maths fun not to be missed! 

The same event will be held for parents of Elm and Maple on the following week, 14th November 2014. 

We hope to see lots of you there!

Drapers' Academy Visitor

Assistant Vice Principal Mr Bannister from Drapers’ Academy came to visit Year 6 today.  Drapers’ Academy would like to invite all Year 5 and 6 pupils and parents to visit the Academy for their Open Evening.

Open Evening will be Monday 22^nd September 2015 6.00pm-9.00pm.

Year 6 Praise

We were delighted today to receive a message from Elaine Keeley, a road safety officer, who our year 6 children had the pleasure of meeting last week at the Junior Citizen Event organised by our local police: 

As usual, they were a pleasure to have! All the groups were polite, well-mannered and asked very sensible questions. I even had to give a couple of the groups 11 out of 10 points – they really were fantastic! I wasn’t the only person to find this, I think everyone agreed how good they were. They were a credit to themselves and to the school – you should be very proud of them!

We are so proud that people in our community notice and even take the time to comment on how impeccable our children conduct themselves even outside of school. Good job Year 6, you set a fine example! 

Spelling Bee at Drapers Academy

Tolu, Dylan, Yinka and Kingsley arrived at Drapers Academy read to take on the spellers from the other schools for the prestigious title of best spellers on the hill!

They certainly put up a fight!

After the individual and speedy speller rounds two schools were knocked out and it came down to three, Pyrgo Priory Primary School, St Ursula’s Junior School and us! The competition was really on fire!

In the end, it was head to head between our KS2 spellers and St. Ursula’s. Tension was running high in the hall. Eventually the adjudicator ruled a draw.

Well done to all of the spellers, you could not be beaten!

WoW – Walk to School

Walk to school passports for the summer term have arrived and will be given out this week. There are three more chances to earn yourself walk to school badges throughout the summer term.

Remember all you have to do is walk to school or part of the way at least once a week and record this on your passport.

At the end of each month The JTA’s will check the passports and give out the badges!

Keep walking, it helps to keep you healthy and it’s kinder to the environment.
