Year 6 Home Learning and Spellings 11.5.20

We have had another excellent week of online learning - well done to the children who have joined us every week and to those who have joined us in the last couple of weeks.

Your learning for this week has been uploaded onto Google Classroom with a range of different creative activities for you to get on with as well as Literacy, Maths and Guided Reading. The Year 5 and 6 teachers are continuing to read Cosmic - please let us know what you think of the book and any predictions you have.

We have enjoyed receiving images of the creative activities you've been completing! This week we've seen an excellent VE Day poem and information sheet, origami animals and a DIY bench for the garden! Please continue to share with us what you are doing home.

Below are the Year 6 Spellings for this week.
The weekly test will be on Friday and children should hand their spelling books in on this day.
Pupils are expected to practise their spellings for 15 minutes per day as well as practise their times tables and read at home.

Year 6 Spellings and Home Learning 4.5.20

We would like to say a massive well done to all the children in Year 6 who are actively completing the online work that is being set on Google Classroom. This week, we would like to challenge you to complete at least two core subjects a day (for example, Maths and Literacy or Guided Reading and Maths).

If you are yet to join us, we are reading an emotional and turbulent book in Literacy and Guided Reading - Can you see me now? In Maths, we are recapping skills that we have learnt in school and applying these to various styles of reasoning questions. We have a range of creative and topic lessons that you can complete as well as this, the Year 5 and 6 teachers are uploading videos of them reading Cosmic.

We have enjoyed receiving images of the creative activities you've been completing!

This week there are two new, exciting tasks for you to complete:

  1. Enter a competition to tell the story of VE Day to mark the special 75th anniversary on Friday 8th May. Find out more here: https://ve-vjday75.gov.uk/dan-snows-ve-day-challenge/
  2. Film yourself telling a funny joke which you can send to the Metropolitan Police to make them laugh and lift their spirits at the beginning of their shift.
