Did you know.....?

On our trip to the Natural History Museum we experienced lots of things related to both volcanoes (topic work) and fossils (science work).

Did you know....

... the oldest rock in the Museum was 3.8 billion years old?
... that pumice stone is cooled down lava?
... the Giant's Causeway was made from thick lava that crystallised?
... the people of Pompeii were discovered fossilised in volcanic ash? From these fossils you can make out that the people were running or sleeping when they died.
...most mammals have 7 bones in their neck?
...flamingos tongue and beak have developed to be able to filter out algae from water?
...a shield volcano is a small volcano that has lots of little eruptions?
