Brilliant Boats in Year 6
This half term, Year 6 have been working very hard in their art lessons. They have focused on negative and positive space (as well as the grid method).
For their final piece, they have spent the past few weeks creating masterpieces in the shape of boats. Year 6 were resourceful as they used recyclable materials to construct a boat before covering it in paper. Today, they water coloured their negative space and stuck their figures (of themselves) over the top.
The children then reflected on what went well with their designs and creations and what they would do differently next time.
"I loved today's lesson, especially the positive and negative space. It was so fun!" Najhat, Birch
"Scarlett and I were thinking of doing something creative so we made a unique engine and fingerprint patterns all across our boat." - Manreet, Larch
"Negative space is the backgrounds of a picture or sculpture. The main focus is not the negative space." Meerab, Redwood
