Air Raids in Year 5
In Year 5 today we tried to put ourselves in the shoes of those who experienced the air raids during World War II. We watched a video explaining the expectations of people when the heard the siren before attempting to recreate it ourselves.
We then looked at a leaflet regarding shelters from WWII and began identifying and explaining the features of persuasive writing.
Year 5 showed excellent reflective skills when discussing the emotions people would have experienced and continue to show wonderful resilience as we explore WWII further.
'I can’t believe that people could have been doing anything and then they’d have hear that siren. That’s what scared me.' Tiffany, Willow
'It was fascinating to find out about the air raids in World War II. I can't believe people were brave enough to do that every night and carry on with their normal days after.' Frankie & Charlie, Maple
'The sirens were so loud - what an experience.' Awwal, Redwood
