Over the course of the week, the children in Year 5 have been writing
a narrative based on the poem, 'The Highwayman.'
They created fantastic word banks and plans to help
them write these engaging pieces of narrative.
Have a look below to see some examples of Year 5's fantastic writing.

Bess, who had magnificent eyes that could hypnotise you,

tied in her silky, black hair." (Sarah)
As the sun set and the moon rose, The Highwayman began his journey
down the bumpy, brittle road. The gentle swish of the wind twirled beneath
his feet and he was whistling a song it seemed that only birds could sing. (Chloe)
It was a cold. gloomy night as the stars were diamonds
twinkling in the sky. The wind howled like a wolf seeking its prey.
Bang! As the thunder roared like a lion, the Highwayman finally arrived
at his destination. (Blake)
The moon was a guardian guiding the lonely traveller
along the road. He knew his destination...the inn. As the mysterious,
misty sky shrouded over the inn, the Highwayman rode towards it. The floor
creaked as he climbed off his horse, shivers went up his spine. (Frankie)
