Amazing Authors in Year 6

 Amazing Authors in Year 6

This half term, Year 6 have beeng reading the book 'Holes' by Louis Sachar; a story about a boy called Stanley who is suffering the conqequences of a crime he did not commit by digging holes out in Camp Green Lake. Little does he know, his families has a lot history with Camp Green Lake which will soon be revealed.

For our first writing cycle, pupils created a diary entry as Stanley and wrote about his first two days at the camp. Pupils included a range of emotive language, used references from the text and wrote cohesively to expresed how Stanley's mood changed throughout each key event.

More recently, pupils created a non-chronological report about the Yellow Spotted Lizard; an animal that is frequently referenced throughout the story. There was some brilliant use of scientific terminology and pupils mainted a formal tone throughout their writing.

We are currently working towards writing an alternative ending all about Kissin' Kate Barlow.
