Geography in Year 6 - 17.01.22

Year 6 had a wonderful afternoon channeling their inner seismographers. We discussed what causes an earthquake and how this is similar to a tsunami. It was so interesting to be able to see the live earthquakes from around the world on our interactive resource - see the link below to check it out for yourselves:

The children then made their own seismographs with one member of each group role playing the earthquake in order to get an accurate reading of just how violent their earthquakes were.

"The height of the lines shows how violent the earthquake was. The taller the lines, the more aggressive the earthquake" - Jacob, Almond

"So a Tsunami is like an earthquake but under water?" - Nathan, Lime

"When the tectonic plates collide, an earthquake happens" - Molly, Oak
