In Year 5, we have been discussing the poem The Highwayman.
Within The Highwayman there is some beautiful description of the setting and of the characters.
This week it is our turn to create a fantastic description based on this to then set us up for our narratives later on in the term.
Day 1 - The children created a word/phrase bank to help them. Children used collaboration and thesauruses to help with up level their ideas.
'His velvet red coat stood out like flowers in a graveyard' - Noah
'In the poorly lit night, the bright planet rose' - Thomas
On Day 2 the children used their word banks from the previous day to crate a descriptive piece. This will then help them when they come to write their longer narrative in the coming weeks.
'An unusual man was riding his noble steed, holding a pistol, which shined like a jewel yet to be discovered' - Madalina
'His red velvet coat was full of gold and thievery with a mask that hid the evil grin inside' - Layla
