To start the summer term Year 5 have been looking at the famous poem by Alfred Noyes, "The Highwayman"
The poem was written in 1906 so some of the vocabulary used has been challenging! The children were very resilient and have done a brilliant job of decoding what the poet was trying to portray.
To demonstrate this today the children acted out the poem, taking on the role of each character carefully and ensuring their emotions were conveyed through their actions.
" I really liked acting out the poem and being different characters." Kayden, Maple
" I enjoyed seeing the poem come to life." Lily, Maple
Next week the children will be writing their own versions of the poem. We look forward to reading their interpretations.
