Why Triangles?

What is the most common type of triangle in our surroundings? Where are they positioned? What are triangles used for? What would happen if we didn't have any? These are just some of the questions that Miss Reynolds' maths group were posed today. Deepening our learning from yesterday's classifying types of triangles, we set off to find some of these answers. The conclusion? Isosceles triangles- that also contained right angles- were used in LOTS of places (far more than we predicted) with the important job of making structures stronger and more secure. Brilliant investigative and reasoning skills by Year 5 today! Well done to all!
