Year 6 Celebrate World Book Day!

What a fabulous week we had last week celebrating World Book Day across the school. We wanted to make it more special than ever, especially as it was the event's 25th anniversary. We started off the week with some captivating performances from different authors on Zoom.

"I loved the author Humza Arshad, who has written the Badman books - he had me laughing all the way through!" Malachi, Lime.

Year 6 then had the most wonderful opportunity to read with some young children in Year 2. It was so lovely to see the children supporting the younger ones and encouraging them to read confidently.

"I absolutely loved reading with the Year 2 children! Please can we do that again?" Harry, Almond.

This, of course, all built up to the main event: World Book Day! The children had such a fun time dressing up as their favourite book characters and they especially enjoyed playing "The Masked Reader". Well done to Lily, Ollie H and Katlyn for doing such a fabulous job at reading in your disguises!

All classes had a brilliant time decorating their classroom doors and finding Thing 1 and Thing 2 that had been hidden around the classrooms!

Overall, Year 6 had such a fun week celebrating reading. Well done to all the children for immersing themselves fully into the exciting activities that were planned!

Happy World Book Day from Almond, Lime and Oak!
